POST: PROFESSIONAL NURSE (GENERAL STREAM) WITH MIDWIFERY

Location : Vryheid District Hospital- PHC, Kwa Zulu Natal.
Requirements
To qualify, you must have a Diploma or B degree in nursing or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. You should also have:
- Registration certificates with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- Current registration with the SANC.
- Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, the Nursing Act, problem-solving, decision-making, and report writing skills.
- Health promotion, team building, good communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
Duties
As a Professional Nurse, you will:
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing care.
- Provide optimal, holistic specialized nursing care within set standards and a professional/legal framework.
- Handle obstetric and pediatric emergencies and high-risk conditions.
- Execute duties and functions with proficiency within the prescription of applicable legislation.
- Participate in quality improvement programs and clinical audits.
- Maintain accurate and complete records according to legal requirements.
- Manage and supervise effective utilization of all resources.
- Implement and manage infection control and prevention protocols.
- Ensure the implementation of recommendations for saving mothers and babies.
- Provide support to Nursing Services.
- Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
- Participate in the analysis, formulation, and implementation of policies, practices, and procedures.
- Monitor and control the quality of patient care.
- Perform quality improvement audits and surveys monthly and report to senior management.
- Monitor and evaluate the delivery of quality care at the Hospital.
- Ensure implementation of national and provincial initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate compliance with national and provincial quality programs.
