Designation: Security Officer x3
Department: Joburg City Theatres
Reporting: GM Building and Security
Salary Range: R9,531.54 (basic salary excluding benefits)
Qualification and Skills Requirements
- Grade 9
- Grade C Security Certificate
- Compliance with the PSIRA registration
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours
- Basic computer skills
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent sense of judgment
- Ability to stay alert at all times
Work Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of security experience
Primary Function
The primary function of the Security Officer is to provide access control, perimeter patrolling, guarding, security systems operations, and general security services to ensure the safety and security of employees, stakeholders/clients, assets, information, and buildings/facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with all aspects of access control
- Issuing and receiving access control permits
- Escorting visitors throughout the building
- Conducting walkthrough detection systems for employees and visitors
- Registering and securing private firearms
- Conducting X-ray examinations of baggage
- Registering all private property brought into the building
- Accompanying assets removed from the premises with appropriate permits
- Responding to electronic security system alarms
- Checking electronic systems operation during shifts
- Recording security breaches and initiating action to contain them
- Conducting office inspections for security compliance
- Removing vulnerable assets abandoned in risk areas and keeping them in safe custody
- Checking building perimeter and electronic security systems at shift commencement and termination
- Conducting vehicle searches when appropriate
- Providing other security duties as required
