    • For candidates with a completed qualification (minimum 360 credits): R9 531,54 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits)
    • For enrolled students: R3 500,00 pm (Basic salary, no benefits)

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric/Grade 12, NQF level 4 plus a Financial qualification at NQF level 6 or a Degree at NQF level 7
  • Proficiency in Basic MS Office Suite
  • English language proficiency (reading and writing)
  • Ability to work extended hours as required
  • Enrollment confirmation letter from your educational institution
  • Residency in the City of Johannesburg

Primary Function

As a Finance Intern, you will assist in various financial management processes including budgeting, financial planning, revenue management, expenditure management, assets and liability management, and procurement. Your work will be guided by the Municipal Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, and other relevant financial policies.

Key Learning Areas

  • Budget Preparation: Assist in the preparation and allocation of resources in alignment with CoJ priorities and housing business plans, ensuring compliance with the MFMA and related regulations.
  • Revenue Management: Contribute to maximizing revenue collection and minimizing debtors’ accounts in arrears, ensuring the Department has adequate resources to maintain rental units.
  • Asset Management: Help safeguard the assets of the City of Johannesburg in accordance with MFMA and related GRAP standards.
  • Procurement Participation: Participate in the procurement process to ensure service delivery complies with MFMA, Treasury Regulations, and CoJ-approved SCM policy.
  • Expenditure Management: Assist in achieving effective and efficient expenditure management to reduce or eliminate unauthorized, irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditure.
  • Year-End Processes: Support compliance with CoJ year-end processes aiming for a clean audit.
  • Internal Communications: Facilitate internal communications, documentation flow, approvals, and respond to inquiries to improve overall service delivery.
