Key Responsibilities:
As a General Worker (Redline Gate/Guard/Fence Patroller), your primary duties will include:
- Control and Monitor Animal Movement: Manage the movement of cloven-hooved animals, ensuring compliance with the redline area regulations. You will stop, register, and search vehicles coming from these zones, checking for prohibited items like meat, dairy products, grass, hides, and more.
- Redline Fence Patrol: Conduct routine checks on the redline fence, ensuring no breakage or breaches. You will trace animal tracks and clear bushes along the fence, ensuring that no quarantined animals cross into restricted areas.
- Confiscation and Disposal: Identify and confiscate unauthorized products and report them to your supervisor for further action.
- Gate and Vehicle Control: Open and close the gates as necessary, maintaining control over vehicle movement in the quarantined area. You will also be responsible for keeping detailed records of vehicles and quarantined animals, working closely with the Animal Health Technician.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
To qualify for this position, you must have:
- Educational Qualification: A minimum of Grade 10 / ABET / AET or an equivalent qualification as recognized by SAQA.
- Skills: Basic literacy and numeracy, the ability to read and write, and strong communication skills. Good interpersonal relations are critical, as is the ability to write basic reports.
Added Advantage:
While not a strict requirement, prior knowledge and experience in security services will give you a competitive edge in the application process.
